Laminated poles are glued from 3 to 4 layers. For this process, the base material is first kiln-dried and then planed to size, making the wood very dimensionally stable. To make the square timber round, it is planed again in the direction of the grain to create a smooth surface.
This high-quality processing results in a lightweight and very stable jump pole without cracks – perfect for safe use on the course.

To produce heartwood poles, young spruce trees are sawn across the wood fibers. To process the wood properly, the logs must be processed with a high moisture content shortly after felling. Especially during the summer months, the wood may dry too quickly, which can cause rough spots on the surface.
Since kiln-drying causes significantly more cracking, the poles are air-dried as carefully as possible over a period of several months, meaning weight fluctuations are inevitable. The cracks are also more severe due to warm weather and the resulting shorter drying time. Despite this, the poles are very stable thanks to the characteristic wooden core.

Jump poles should not be too light.
If a horse hits an obstacle, the speed and high weight of the animal can generate enormous forces. To ensure a safe landing for both horse and rider, it is important that the obstacle falls vertically to the ground after contact. Poles that are too light can be carried in the direction of the jump and cause serious accidents upon landing.
